Hillwoods Academy’s visit to NDRF

A visit to 8th Battalion of NDRF was organised for students of Hillwoods Academy. A group of 40 students were shown a live demonstration of how the force conducts a rescue operation using machines like CBRN Hazmat Response Vehicle and CBRN Surveillance vehicle for searching chemical equipments. Life detector,victim locating system,chain saw,portable gas drill,GSMA system and many more devices were used to carry out rescue operations.

Commandant of the battalion told students that in total there are 10 NDRF battalions,each has 45 personnel with specialised training to face any disaster,natural or man-made. The visit proved to be highly informative and instrumental in bringing forth the growth of the country to be part of community disaster management.

Prize distribution at Banyan Tree School

Banyan Tree School,Lodhi Road,hosted its Annual Prize Distribution Day on 3 August 2012. It was an event to felicitate the students of the Senior School who had showcased outstanding performance in academics and co-scholastic activities during the academic year 2011-12. Students were awarded certificates and trophies for Academic Proficiency,Devotion to Duty,Steady Progress and Full Attendance in the Academic domain. There was much appreciation when the names of the Word Spinner,Virtuous Treasure,Strengthening Roots,Master Mind,Computer Wizard were announced. Dr Kulwant Rai Award,named after the Founder of the School,was awarded to one student from each level in the Senior School who had displayed exemplary performance in academics and co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. Students who had excelled in CBSE-AISSE and AISSCE were also honored for their brilliant performance in board examinations.

Rajeev Srivastava and Dr Lata Kapoor,the proud parents of two Banyaniites were the chief guests for the day. They shared their life experiences with the students and emphasised the fact that there was no substitute for hard work.

Career counselling at Bal Bharati Public School

Bal Bharati Public School,Pitampura,organised a workshop for Class XI on 9 August,2012 on Career Counseling,conducted by Univariety. The representatives of Univariety made the students aware of the objective of the Univariety i.e. guiding students and helping them to take decision on career-related issues. The session included answering the queries of the students and corroborating the points by quoting examples. After discussion hour,the students were made aware of colleges,courses offered by them and the criteria of admission. Students said it was wonderful to know about options other than IIT. They were made aware of SAT exams. This is going to be a continuous guiding program as the team would remind them to fill forms for various exams.

Book week at Springdales,Pusa Road

The week-long Book Week Celebrations culminated with the Book Week Exhibition: “Creating Effective Learning Spaces: Connecting the Head,Hand and Heart” on 4-5 August at Springdales,Pusa Road. Dr Rajni Kumar,Chairperson Springdales Education Society inaugurated the exhibition and congratulated students and teachers for their extraordinary display. The exhibition showcased the holiday home work projects and class projects of the students on various themes like adolescence,media,social networking,harmony,etc.The exhibition was open to principals and teachers of NPSC schools across Delhi.

Online projects at St Mark’s,Janakpuri

St Mark’s,Janakpuri,successfully completed their AEC online projects in collaboration with Greece,Singapore,Sweden and Ireland under the guidance of the Global Project coordinator Archana Tyagi. There were various categories for the project called “Oops Apps!”. A team of four students: Lakshit Chawla XI-B,Yukti Bahl XI-C,Saumya Sood XI-B and Simran Grover XI-E bagged the first prize in the category ‘Present your country’ and Second prize in ‘School Life and Sports’ category.

Independence Day at Hilwoods Academy

To commemorate 65 years of Independence and to pay rich tributes to our freedom fighters,Independence Day was celebrated with patriotic fervour and enthusiasm at Hillwoods Academy. The head of the institution hoisted the National Flag,accompanied by national anthem played by school band. A cultural programme reminiscing India’s splendid past,sacrifices made by freedom fighters and applauding India’s achievements in past 65 years was a befitting ode to our motherland.
