IPSC teachers training workshop at Delhi Public School,RK Puram
The IPSC (Indian Public Schools Conference) conducted a training workshop for teachers taking physics,mathematics,economics and accountancy classes for XI and XII students,and those taking social studies classes for VI to X students,on October 24 at Delhi Public School,RK Puram . The workshop was attended by about 60 teachers from various schools across the country.
The chief guest,Delhi Public School Society chairman Ashok Chandra,expressed the view that the primary requirement of an ideal teacher is to be a good learner,one who is open to new ideas and ready to go beyond the prescribed syllabi to turn the students into thinking individuals. The workshop began with an IT presentation on the latest trends in educational technology. The main session had eminent speakers from various fields discussing methods to make classroom teaching more interdisciplinary and interesting.
Investiture ceremony at St Marys Safdarjung Enclave
An Investiture ceremony was held in the school premises last month. The chief guest,Justice Verma (former Chief Justice of India) was welcomed with a huge round of applause and a bouquet of flowers. The ceremony was a formal induction,where old student council members handed over their responsibilities to the new student council. An enchanting Sufi dance performed by students contributed to the events success. Members of the audience,who hummed along to the Sufi tunes,applauded the performers with a lot of enthusiasm. Awards were also distributed among young achievers in the junior,middle and senior sections on the occasion. Students who secured more than 80 per cent for six consecutive terms were awarded the scholar blazer.
Shera Mera Dost is a hit at DAV School,Dwarka
The DAV School has always been successful in holding different kinds of campaigns and events,thanks to the constant support and benediction offered by the society,CBSE authorities, Directorate of Education and the DAVCMC. Under The Commonwealth in Education Programme Shera Mera Dost My Friend Shera,principal S S Mukhija and his team had left no stone unturned to make the campaign a grand success. Not only had the team imbibed the spirit of the Commonwealth Games in students,they had also motivated them to participate in activities being conducted on the Delhi Tourism website under the banner Shera Mera Dost. The school also organised an array of fun-filled activities for teachers,students and parents. The activities comprised government-proposed activities such as poster-making contests,inter-class quizzes,mask-making events and fancy dress competitions.
However,the biggest attraction of all was Shera,the Commonwealth Games mascot,who visited the school on September 27. The school reception and junior wing sections were decked up in balloons,festoons,tissues and frills for the occasion .The walls and floors of the institution were adorned with CWG graffiti and rangoli.
Vibgyor Festival celebrated at RD Rajpal School
A mega event,titled Vibgyor-Inter School Festival,was hosted in the school premises for children in the 2-6 age bracket. The intention behind the event was to hone the inherent skills of the students in multi-varied fields and provide them with a platform to exhibit their talents through a plethora of activities. There were different competitions such as solo dance,fancy dress,colouring,poem recitation and many more. The whole school seemed to be reverberating with the childrens enthusiasm and excitement. Parents,who were present on the occasion, seemed to be equally excited. The event was inaugurated with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by chairman Ishwar Rajpal,president Subhash Rajpal and principal Alka Kshatriya. A cultural programme presented by the students to showcase the countrys rich heritage featured the Punjabi Bhangra,and dances from Goa and Himachal Pradesh,among others. The schools choir and orchestra group also displayed their musical expertise effecting perfect symphony.
The day concluded with the prize distribution ceremony,where mementos were given away to the winners. Appreciating the efforts put in by students,the principal exhorted teachers and parents to mould young minds and direct them towards the path leading to progress and success.
Life skills workshop conducted at DPS,Sushant Lok
An invigorating life skills workshop was held for teachers at DPS Sushant Lok on September 28. Resource persons Mr Sameer Sikka and Ms Payal Chadda spoke about building an inspired and empowered me on the occasion. They said that as teachers are in a noble profession that requires them to mould the minds of young children,they need to practise self-actualisation so as to exert a positive influence on students. The teachers also held presentations in the form of skits,songs and poems to reflect a positive mission statement that everybody should believe in and practice. The workshop,which left everyone with a lot to reflect on,advocated that in order to be successful, teachers should develop a high self-esteem and exert a positive influence on all the people they interact with,especially the impressionable minds of students in their care.
Scholar badge ceremony at DPS,Mathura Road
DPS,Mathura Road hosted a Scholar Badge ceremony on October 27. Salman Khurshid,Union Minister of State for Ministry of Corporate Affairs & Ministry of Minority Affairs,had consented to be the chief guest on the occasion,which aimed at recognising the hard work of its achievers. While the function was presided over by Oscar Fernandes,Member of Parliament and Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on HRD,it had Pramod Grover,DPS Society Vice Chairman, and Sanjay Manchanda,Director,Microsoft Business Division,as its guests of honour. The event commenced with a welcome address by M I Hussain,Principal,DPS,Mathura Road. The distribution of prizes was inter-linked with colourful cultural performances by children.
