Japanese exchange programme at DPS RK Puram

A 10-member delegation from Kawada Elementary School in Nagano, Japan,visited DPS RK Puram on January 24 as part of the eighth year of the exchange program. The delegation comprised eight students and two teachers,Isac Miyazawa and Atsushi Wada,vice principal,Kawada Elementary School.

The visit to DPS RK Puram began with a cultural programme in the Audio-Visual Hall. Masahiro Nagira from the Japanese Embassy in India ,Japan Information Center; Junko Yamanoi,Assistant Director of Japan Foundation; Saka and Asaka,members of the Japanese Women’s Association; Iwao Sawada,principal of the New Delhi Japanese School,and Yamashita,Head of Cultural Affairs,Japanese Women’s Association,were among the dignitaries present. Students of the host school performed various dances and songs,followed a cultural extravaganza featuring Japanese students,who also gave an excellent presentation. The delegation had earlier visited the

Taj Mahal,after which they were taken to various tourist attractions in and around Delhi .

Students of St Mark’s School visit Indonesia

A nine-member student delegation,accompanied by teacher-in-charge Anita Vohra,visited Al Azhar High School,Jakarta,Indonesia,from January 12 to 22.

The students stayed with their host families. During these 10 days,the participants were exposed to a variety of activities at the school. They learnt traditional dance and martial arts and attended several classes,during which they also gave presentations. The students also explored the city life,visited museums,and other places of interest. The students also visited the ASEAN Institute of Peace,where they participated in a peace dialogue with leaders.

The highlight of the trip was a visit to the Indian embassy in Jakarta and a meeting Ambassador Biren Nanda.

It was indeed a trip to remember for everyone as it taught the students about understanding,tolerance towards other cultures as well as global challenges.

Divyansh Khatri makes Abhinav School proud

It is a great honour for Abhinav Public School that 12-year-old Divyansh Khatri of Class VI of Abhinav Public School,Pitampura,secured first position in 56th National School Lawn Tennis Championship in the under-14 years category.

Republic Day celebrated at DAV,Dwarka

The students of DAV School,Dwarka,celebrated Republic Day with joy and zeal. The celebration started with the unfurling of the tricolour by principal S S Mukhija. While addressing the students,he emphasised on the need for every Indian to rekindle the spirit of patriotism. He also spoke on the importance of the day. It was followed by speeches in English and Hindi by students of Class VI,VII & X. Senior students presented patriotic songs to inculcate a sense of pride with a youthful edge. Students also took a pledge to steer the country towards the path of progress. Merit certificates were distributed to the students for securing distinctive positions in various competitions organised by the school and other institutions. The event ended with the DAV Anthem.

Annual day at Shaheed Bishan Singh Memorial School

Shaheed Bishan Singh Memorial Senior Secondary School,Mansarover Garden,celebrated its annual day function at Shah Auditorium,Civil Lines,with great pomp. Thakur Uday Singh,the great grandson of Satguru Ram Singh,presided over the function. Students gave a classical performance with the tabla,harmonium and dilruba,followed by a skit on Shaheed Bishan Singh. Another skit on women’s empowerment was also presented. Tiny tots presented a rhyme ‘Old McDonald had a farm’. Students from the primary and middle segments delivered performances showcasing dances from different states.

The school’s annual report was presented by the principal,Satwant Kaur,who highlighting the achievements of the school. The event came to an end with the award-giving ceremony. The school souvenir ‘Bishananians’ was released on the occasion by the chief guest.

Annual Sports day at Apeejay School,Noida

Apeejay School,Noida,held its annual sports day on the school grounds with great fervour. Principal N N Nayyar warmly welcomed the guests. The chief guest on the occasion was Vineet

Joshi,IAS,CBSE chairman,and the guests of honour included cricketer Madan Lal and member of the Indian hockey team (Jr) Danish Mujtaba.

V S Garg,Apeejay Education Society,presided over the function. All the principals of Apeejay Schools across the Capital were present.

The four houses marched with measured steps,competing with each other to the tune of Saare Jahaan Se Achha played by the school band.

The main attraction of the day was ‘Rhythmotion’,a confluence of world dances. All the students,from nursery to Class XI,participated in one event or the other. Certificates and medals were given away to star performers of the year.

Inter-school fiesta ‘Nav Udaan’ for pre-primary students

Apeejay School,Noida,hosted an inter-school fiesta ‘Nav Udaan’ for students of pre- primary classes.

The programme witnessed an overwhelming participation of more than 270 students from 22 prestigious schools across New Delhi and NCR. Six events were held on the occasion. Nursery students participated in English storytelling,Honey Bee race and musical chairs and the kindergarteners had group dance,‘Go Green’ race and ‘Eat Healthy,Stay Healthy’ race.

Alumni meet Milan 2011 at Poorna Pranja school

Poorna Prajna Public School,D-III,Vasant Kunj,celebrated its alumni meet ‘Milan’ on January 30,2011. Chairman H L Suresh,Managing Committee secretary Hebber and principal Sangeeta Mato graced the occasion.

The programme commenced with a welcome speech by convener Anju Singh,Masters of the ceremony,Mansi Kapoor,and Abhishek Bhola made a grand entry riding a bike.

The evening rocked with exciting games,guitar play and a fun filled ramp show,where the alumni were judged for Ms & Mr Alumni,Ms & Mr Charming. Members of the alumni were filled with nostalgia when an audio-visual show of the school’s fondest memories was conducted.
