Sarpanch killing: Wife of main accused held

The wife of the main accused in the Hayatpur Sarpanch killing case has been arrested,police said on Saturday.

Police said the wife of accused Rakesh has been arrested as a co-conspirator. She knows a lot of things regarding the case and how her husband plotted the murder, said S S.Deswal,Commissioner of Police.

Deswal added Rakesh is still absconding.

A Sarpanch of Hayatpur village,also called Rakesh Yadav,was chased and killed by four contract killers on June 23. The angry mob,which gathered at the spot,nabbed one of the killers and after beating him up set him on fire. The suspect later succumbed to the burns

Police had recently arrested two persons for allegedly allowing the contract killers to stay at his house and keep a tab on Yadavs movements.
