Creating humorous scenarios from an all-time hot issue gender bias is what Lushin Dubey* intends to do in her forthcoming theatre production SWAP. In this play,the audience will see a unique situation of DNA swapping wherein a man would possess masculine physical attributes but will have the psychology of a woman and vice versa. The script of the play is structured such as to evoke humour. With a contemporary setting,the play,other than having a metaphorical representation might have a touch of Cubism too,with its multiple perspectives. My desire is to make it stand out as a sophisticated and intelligent comedy,where we can view our gender idiosyncrasies and appreciate its humorous side, says Dubey. The play aims to get the audience to ponder over how entrapped we are in our conventional notions about the other gender and the narrow mindsets we live with.
