The Supreme Court on Tuesday directed real estate barons Ansal brothers,owners of the Uphaar cinema,to release an interim compensation of Rs 3.4 crore to families and injured victims of the fire tragedy that left 59 people dead in June 1997. A Bench of Justices R V Raveendran and K S Radhakrishnan asked the Association of Victims of Uphaar Tragedy (AVUT) to furnish a complete list and details of the bereaved families and surviving victims to ensure proper disbursal.
