Raise Your Mugs

The highlights include a serving robot, that will serve the original Oktoberfest wheat beer that has been specially brought in from Bavaria.

Germany’s biggest carnival,Oktoberfest, brings with it hoards of gregarious women wearing the Bavarian dirndl, balancing 10 mugs in their hands without breaking into a sweat. These women cater to nearly six million people who visit Munich for the festival every year. Sixteen of them will give Delhi a taste of the festival on October 3 at the residence of the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany.

The highlights include a serving robot, that will serve the original Oktoberfest wheat beer that has been specially brought in from Bavaria. Though Bierzelt, the party tents, which can accommodate thousands of people at a time might be missing, traditional Leberkase meatloaf; Ofenfrische Brezeln, crispy baked pretzel; and Apfelstrudel Mit Vanillesauce, apple strudel served with vanilla sauce will welcome the guests. There will also be the 65-year-old Bavarian country music band Dellnhauser playing in the background. Michael Steiner,German Ambassador to India, said,“There will be freshly baked Ofenfrische Brezeln since it becomes inedible after an hour of outside exposure. It will be challenge because of the humidity. The serving robot is a new concept that will be a delight for visitors.”

Entry by invitations only.
