Punk’d, Again

She has established herself as the reigning queen of fiction on India television, but Ekta Kapoor’s attempts at non-fiction, such as chat show Kandy Floss and reality show Kaun Jeetega Bollywood Ka Ticket, have not been as successful. But Kapoor is all set to make yet another attempt.

Balaji Telefilms is adapting the popular reality concept, Punk’d, an American tele-series where the host plays a prank on common people and sometimes, also on celebrities. Hollywood actor Ashton Kutcher was the producer and host of the American series.

In India, the series is called Jhand Hogi Sabki and will be aired on MTV for close to five weeks. Several Bollywood stars, such as Nargis Fakhri, Varun Dhawan and Shraddha Kapoor, have already shot for it, . The host is newbie Siddharth Gupta with Simran Kaur Mundi.

The concept, however, may come across as a rehash of one of MTV’s popular properties, Bakra, which was hosted by Cyrus Broacha.
