Problems galore at shooting ranges

The range was supposed to have six composite shotgun ranges for both trap and skeet events. Of those,three — ranges 4,5 and 6 — can’t be used for skeet at present due to technical deficiencies while range No. 5 has faulty stations.

Of the remaining two,range No.1 has been deemed unsafe for skeet shooters with the staircase for the high house of this range damaged. Which leaves the shooters with just one range to practice.

There are further problems for the shooters. Station No. 7 at ranges 1 and 3 have been damaged as the soil beneath them has caved in because of rains. On top of all this,the shooters have been complaining for some timenow about the metal shed over all the ranges,which they claim is faulty.

According to the shooters,the shed is almost a metre short,which means they have to shoot directly under the sun or can’t shoot when it is raining. “It was built to ensure shade for the shooters during rains or bringt sunshine,but it fails to do either,” a shooter not wanting to be named said.

The shortcoming do not end here. There are no ready players’ lounges for the shooters awaiting their turn to shoot during practice or competition. Instead,they have to stay in their cars while others are shooting. Instead,the organisers have built spectator galleries at all the ranges,which were not required. Most major ranges across the world have galleries only in ranges where medal rounds are to be shot.

“Who’ll come to watch the qualifying rounds in shooting. All of this wasn’t required,” another shooter said.
