Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Ambika Soni on Friday said there was no move to limit the freedom of the press. But at the same time,there is need for self-regulation and the process must be given time to prove itself, Soni said. She was speaking at a function of the International Press Institute awards,given to Tehelka and The Week magazines.
There are apprehensions that government wants to impose censorship and undermine the role of free media. Media holds an invasive position and has potential to mobilise society, Soni said.
