Around a 100 residents of the village of Behlalpur in Noida blocked the NH-24 for close to two hours in the afternoon, alleging that they were not being allowed to cast their vote by local goons surrounding the polling booth. The villagers then called the BSP MP from Noida,Surinder Singh Nagar,to the scene. Nagar said,“These people are alleging that several hundred people have not been allowed to vote by local goons of some other political party. These hired hands apparently tore the election identification chits and did not allow these residents to vote. I will take up the matter with the DM.”

In Chandpur village in Jhewar district, voting was stalled for nearly two hours after villagers believed that their votes were not being registered. The problem arose when around 8:15 am,one electronic voting machine stopped functioning. Election officials present, however, replaced the machine within half an hour and transferred the 76 votes that had already been polled by then to the new machine. “We reassured voters that there was no problem and voting resumed normally,” the official said.
