On the kill

He’s supposed to be promoting his next film Hide & Seek but Purab Kohli barely pauses for breath as he gushes over the National awards that Rock On!! has won. “It’s the first film that I’ve been part of that has won a National award,” says the VJ-turned-actor.

Hide & Seek, produced by Apoorva Lakhia,is scheduled to release on February 19. And finally Kohli gets around to talking about it. “It’s a slasher film,” he says,“The genre is not very common here so people keep asking me what it is about. It will keep the audience on their toes till the end.”

Kohli says that the last good thriller he saw was Scream, which went on to become a cult movie. “So I have huge expectations from my film too,” he says. While the nature of his fan following, teen girls mainly, hasn’t changed much, filmmakers are giving him a chance to veer away from his “cute” image. “I have some exciting things planned for this year, one of which is Prakash Jha’s production Turning 30,” he says. The other is Rajat Kapoor’s tentatively titled Fatso. “I never planned to get into this industry. Like everyone in this industry,I’ve had my share of frustration but this year looks like it will be good for me,” he says.
