The mood at Talkatora Stadium is decidedly anti-Aussie. Day 4 saw large crowds turning up to cheer the Indian boxers on,and to jeer at the Aussies. At one point when a boxer from Ireland was going neck-to-neck with an Aussie boxer,the crowds cheered Ireland on with so much enthusiasm that it prompted an African delegate to ask if there are any latent ties between India and Ireland that he is unaware of.

Missing the bus
At the Media Press Centre in Pragati Maidan,the unpredictable nature of the transport services has become a major grouse. Often,buses are seen leaving with as few as two passengers before the scheduled time,and in other cases,mediapersons find themselves waiting for buses for as long as 35 minutes. This has been widely criticised as wasteful.

Driver held with opium seeds
A driver on Games duty,tasked with bringing technical staffers to the Kadarpur Shooting Range here,was arrested on Thursday after the police recovered 64 grams of opium seeds (churapost) from his possession. The seeds were discovered when 28-year-old Jaswinder Singhs vehicle was checked at entrance gate number 1 of the CRPF camp around 11.30 am. They were found wrapped in a newspaper under the drivers seat. Singh,a resident of Awan Khalsa village in Jalandhar,Punjab,has been booked under Section 15 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act at Badshaapur station.

CWG promoting safe sex too
Though instances of condoms blocking toilets in the Games Village might have caused some embarrassment to Games officials,federation boss Michael Fennell termed it a positive story as the athletes were promoting safe sex. While sex is not a CWG sport,it does seem to have become quite an activity at the Village which houses more than 7,000 athletes,all in great shape with plenty of free time at their disposal.
