No date yet for CBSE results

Sources in the Board said that “moderation” of the Class X results is taking time

For thousands of students across the city, the wait for their Class X results seems to be getting longer. With the CBSE yet to decide on the date of announcement of results, students are starting to get impatient.

Sources in the Board said that “moderation” of the Class X results is taking time. This year, the CBSE had given schools the freedom to choose their own date sheet, and made the Class X exams entirely school-based. The CBSE had also asked all affiliated schools to compile and send them the “assessment data for scholastic and co-scholastic areas/activities under the Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation” for classes IX and X.

The CBSE had announced that after the data is sent by the schools, the Board will “moderate” the results and announce them after conducting the summative assessment-II. “We have no information regarding the result as of now,” said a school principal, adding: “Earlier, there were rumours that the results would be declared on May 16,then May 20. But nothing came. Also,we have received no communication from the board in this regard.”

This is the first batch of students to be assessed by the Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) scheme, which grades both scholastic and co-scholastic areas. Students will get their grades and grade points in each subject, besides the Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA),when the results are announced.

“I am not worried about the results because I am sure to get A1 in all the subjects, but they really should get it over with,” said Rashi Dhingra,a student of Apeejay School,Pitampura.

It is also unclear whether the Board will announce the results on its website or send them to the schools. The CBSE will give a CCE certificate to all students who secure grade ‘D’ or above. Students who get ‘E’ grade or anything lower will be accorded an ‘improvement chance’. The grades will be awarded on a nine-point average.
