(Express File Photo)The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has allotted 181 acres of land to seven different government institutes for the development of their campuses in Narela, in an effort to transform the Narela sub-city into an ‘education hub’.
In October, L-G VK Saxena had asked the DDA to develop Narela into an ‘education hub’, in addition to the other residential and other projects in the area.
The DDA has now allotted land in Narela to the Delhi Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research University, the Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, the Delhi Skill and Entrepreneurship University, the Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology, the Delhi Technological University, the Delhi Teachers University, and the Indira Gandhi Delhi Technical University for Women.

According to a communication from the L-G’s office, these Universities were functioning from limited space in their existing campuses and the additional land is likely to help them expand.
A total of 1,082 flats in the area have also been allotted to these Universities, according to the communication, which added that the move would fetch the DDA Rs. 1300 crore for the land, along with the revenue for the flats.
