N-E couple attacked in Munirka

A case under SC & ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act 1989 has been registered at Vasant Vihar police station.

A couple from Manipur was allegedly assaulted by their landlord and his friends, after an altercation in South Delhi’s Munirka area on Tuesday night.

The couple claimed that the altercation took place because they had told the landlord that they wanted to head out to meet a relative at 10.30 pm. Police said seven persons have been arrested.

According to police, Lhingneilam Vaiphei (24) asked for the keys of the main gate since she had to receive her mother, who was in the capital to see their baby, but the landlord refused to let them leave.

Police said after an argument, the landlord allegedly called around nine men, who pushed her and assaulted her husband Thangminlen Vaiphei (27), a sepoy with central para-military forces who is posted in Jammu and Kashmir.
