Monsoon Ragas

There might be a shortage of rain, but none whatsoever of monsoon ragas. For some elegant glissando of music, thundering tans and gamaks duck into Kamani Auditorium that hosts a three-day Malhaar Utsav. The festival began on Monday with concerts by Amaan and Ayaan Ali Khan of the Senia Bangash gharana and Delhi-based ghazal singer Shanti Hiranand who presented thumris, kajris and chaitis. On Tuesday,Kanak Chaturvedi will sing light classical songs, while the Gundecha brothers,Umakant and Ramakant, will perform Hindustani vocal,to be followed by a sitar recital by Pandit Debu Chaudhury. Pandit Rajan and Sajan Mishra (in the picture) will wrap up the festival with more rain ragas in their inimitable style. Get soaked.

At Kamani Auditorium from 6.30 pm. Contact 9811423444
