Madhu Sapre,the former Indian supermodel,delivered a baby girl at a Mumbai hospital on Thursday. She has named her daughter Indira. This is the first child for Sapre,who is married to Italian businessman Gian Maria. The 40-year-old ex-model first met Maria through a common friend at a Mumbai party,where the pair was believed to have hit it off instantly. After a brief courtship,they married in 2001 and Sapre moved to Italy.

A close friend of Sapre informs that both mother and daughter are doing well. “She has been shuttling between Italy and India since her marriage. But she came down to India in April for the delivery with her immediate family and friends around,” says the friend. She was due at the end of the month but delivered two weeks early. Sapre chose to keep her pregnancy low-key and refused to give media interviews or make too many public appearances. Her most recent outing was the party to celebrate the launch of a furniture line.
