A 60-year-old property dealer,missing since April 26 (Sunday),was found dead in Dwarka area of Southwest Delhi on Tuesday.
As per police sources,the victims family informed the police around 8.15 am on Tuesday that the property dealers body had been found in a park in Dwarka,Sector 9. When the police reached the spot,the body was identified as that of the missing property dealer,Giri Raj Singh. The police officers said there were strangulation marks on his neck and suspect he was murdered due to personal enmity.
From initial investigations,we suspect he was murdered due to personal enmity. However,we are probing the case from all angles, a senior police officer said.
His family had informed the police on Sunday that Giri Raj had gone missing from his Raj Nagar colony residence in Palam area and they feared he had been kidnapped and murdered.
On Tuesday,Singhs family members located Giri Rajs body in the park and called the police.
A case has been registered at the Dwarka police station and the body sent for postmortem.
The victims son Vijay said his father had gone out on Sunday evening after receiving a call. From his cell phone records,we found that one Pramod,a rickshaw puller,had called him. During interrogation,Pramod told the police he had made the call on the instructions of one Jai Bhagwan,who had reportedly paid him Rs 2,500, Vijay said.
His family suspected old rivalry behind the murder,he added. Our family has old rivals in Rajasthan,and we strongly suspect one of them is involved in the incident, Vijay Singh added.
The police are now questioning Pramod,Jai Bhagwan and his brother Amit.
Giri Raj was a retired government official. After his retirement,he joined his son in the property business and was assisting him for the past few years, the police officer said.
The Deputy Commissioner of Police,(Southwest) K Jagdishan said the police were looking into the matter.
