The Delhi Polices Special Cell has arrested an active member of the separatist militant organisation Peoples United Liberation Front (PULF) of Manipur.
The accused,identified as Mohammad Abdul Noor (35),is the general secretary of the outfit. He is also the chief coordinator of PULFs M I Khan faction and had escaped from police custody in Manipur on March 14.
Abdul Noor has reportedly been involved in several cases of extortion and kidnapping at the behest of the PULF in Manipur.
DCP (Special Cell) Alok Kumar said they were acting on a tip off that Abdul Noor will be coming to Munirka to collect a consignment of arms and ammunition along with his associates and a raid was conducted.
Kumar said that during interrogation,Abdul Noor confessed to his involvement in kidnappings and extortion in Manipur. He said he joined PULF in 2006 as a convener/coordinator based in Delhi. He met Azad,Umar Farooq,Purail Lamba,Lal,Boyi and other important functionaries of PULF in Delhi in 2006.
