MCD development projects get nod

The Works Committee of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi on Tuesday held its Budget meeting.

The Works Committee of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) on Tuesday held its Budget meeting,in which it requested the civic agency to release the second installment of the total fund — worth Rs 1 crore — that is allocated per ward for expenses like removal of debris and various other development work.

Jagdish Mamgain,chairperson of the committee,asked for the release of the second installment of Rs 50 lakh per ward to the councillors under discretionary expenses.

Upon a request from all party councillors,discretionary expenses to the tune of Rs 272 crore was approved for 2011-12. The budget proposed by the MCD Commissioner towards the Engineering department was also approved. Under the proposal,Rs 250 lakh has been sanctioned for cremation grounds,Rs 750 lakh has been sanctioned for the maintenance and repair of roads,Rs 25 crore for maintenance and repair of school buildings,Rs 2 crore for the maintenance of repair of hospitals and dispensaries,Rs 10 crore for municipal buildings,Rs 20 crore for footpaths,Rs 50 crore for urban roads,Rs 150 lakh for development of Old Delhi areas,Rs 200 lakh for katras and Rs 1 crore for industrial areas.

Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Civic Centre was granted Rs 80 crore,while Rs 100 crore was allocated for development of parking lots. Rs 215 crore was allocated to the Electricity department. Rs 250 lakh was granted for labour expenses ,Rs 20 lakh for mechanisation of the dhobi ghat,Rs 250 lakh for bitumin for road development and Rs 100 lakh for water harvesting. In all,Rs 500 crore was provided to the Engineering Department.
