On September 17, a PCR call was received at the Mangolpuri police station, stating that three people were stabbed near the Balmiki Mandir area. (File)A 32-year-old man was allegedly stabbed to death by a relative and his friend after an argument over dancing on a DJ floor in Delhi’s Mangolpuri on Tuesday. The police arrested the accused on Wednesday.
On September 17, a PCR call was received at the Mangolpuri police station, stating that three people were stabbed near the Balmiki Mandir area. Three men – Mangal, Neeraj and Kunal – were injured and shifted to Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Hospital. Mangal, 32, was declared dead during treatment, while Kunal and Neeraj survived, the police said.
“Neeraj was dancing on the floor with his brother Kunal and his uncles Mangal and Nitesh aka Mogi 30, on the night of September 15. An argument took place between Mogi and others over dancing space on the floor,” said Jimmy Chiram, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer). Mogi, along with his friend Abhishek, 21, hatched a plan to murder the three, the police said.
“In the intervening night of September 17 and September 18, Mogi came with Abhishek near Balmiki Mandir and stabbed the three victims,” a police officer said.
According to the police, a raid was conducted at Mogi’s house in Mangolpuri, but the history-sheeter was absoconding. “His call record details showed his location in Shahdara, and he was constantly shifting his hideouts with his family,” an officer said.
Both accused were nabbed from their hideouts in Shahdara in the early hours of Wednesday and sent to two days of police custody, the police said.
