Man kills sons,ends life

Apparently depressed over his wifes death,a 38-year-old man killed his two children before ending his life at their Brijwasan home in Southwest district on Friday morning.

According to the police,Rajeev Kumar Rana electrocuted his children Hrithik (10) and Rohit (6) with an electric wire before killing himself in the same manner. Rajeevs wife,Kamlesh was electrocuted in May and he was upset since then. Today,He wrapped his children and himself with an electric wire and connected it with a plug. They died immediately, a police officer said. Rajeev ran a dhaba in the Brijwasan area.

The bodies have been sent to the DDU hospital for postmortem, said a police officer.

A neighbour told the police that he had last seen Rana around 6.30 am on his terrace. Around 7.30 am,Hrithiks schoolmate came to take him to school. Finding the house locked from inside,he knocked at the door. Getting no response,he informed Ranas mother who then asked the neighbours to break open the door, said an officer.

They found the trio dead. It appears that Rana had first tied the legs and hands of his sons with the wire before knotting it around their bodies. He then wrapped the wire around himself and plugged into the socket, the police said.

Rana was under depression since the death of Kamlesh. Financial burden and a limited source of income could also have compelled him to take the extreme step,said a police officer.
