L-G V K Saxena has approved the allotment of Delhi Jal Board land to the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation for the Rithala-Bawana-Narela-Kundli corridor under Phase IV, clearing a key hurdle for the project. The approval covers land required for constructing a viaduct between Rithala and Rohini Sector 25.

Under the decision, DMRC will receive 50 sqm of land at the Rithala sewage treatment plant on a permanent basis through a 99-year lease, and 1,286 sqm on a temporary basis for four years. DMRC will pay DJB Rs 75.5 lakh for the allotment. The corridor is expected to improve connectivity in Northwest Delhi and extend Metro services towards Haryana.
