The principal of Kendriya Vidyalaya,Sector 5,Dwarka,has been suspended after the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested him on Monday for allegedly demanding bribe from a parent.

The Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS),an autonomous body under the Human Resources Development ministry, suspended principal R K Dass and school peon Shiv Lakhan after a parent,Vipin Kumar Gupta, complained that Dass had asked for Rs 50,000 to admit his daughter to Class I. Dass had allegedly received an advance of Rs 10,000.

The CBI has registered a case against the duo under the Prevention of Corruption Act of the Indian Penal Code. On Tuesday, special CBI judge S P Garg sent Dass and Lakhan to judicial custody till May 19.

Meanwhile, the Assistant Commissioner of KVS,Delhi circle,VK Shrivastava told Newsline that the organisation had no information about the case,as the CBI had detained them without informing them. “The only intimation (from CBI) on the raid is a letter that lists documents seized in the presence of the school clerk,” Shrivastava said. “A departmental inquiry will be conducted once CBI gives us a copy of the complaint.”
