Four underaged boys were apprehended from Northwest Delhi’s Shah Alam Bandh area on Thursday for their alleged involvement in a series of snatching incidents. While two of them were nabbed after a chase,the others were arrested later. “They had snatched the purse and mobile phone of a man named Shahbuddin,” a senior police official said,adding that they used to strike during the early hours.

Harassment case: NCW seeks report
The National Commission for Women has sought an action-taken report from the Delhi police and the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation in a case of alleged sexual harassment of a 30-year-old DMRC woman officer. NCW Chairperson Girija Vyas,who received the complaint,said that an ATR report was required from the two agencies as the matter was “very serious”. The woman,a legal advisor,claimed that she was being harassed by her senior for the last few days. She said she lodged a complaint with the Barakhamba police on Thursday,in addition to informing the top DMRC management. Delhi Metro has already ordered an internal inquiry into the allegation.

Student attempts suicide
A second-year marine engineering student in IMI College in Greater Noida attempted suicide by hanging late Thursday evening but was rescued by his friends on time. An FIR was lodged in Kasna police station later as the student,Piyush,alleged the college warden,S C Verma,and the administration had harassed him and pushed him into taking the step. Piyush alleged that Verma and the administration were threatening to take disciplinary action against him,police officials said. The matter is being investigated.

Gang of robbers arrested
The South Delhi police have arrested an armed gang of bikers,who used to pull off heists at outlets as well as highways. Police said that they had been particularly active in the last few months. The accused persons — Nazbul Hassan (20),Munnawar Ali (20) and Azhar Abbas (22) — were arrested on Thursday,while they were trying to rob the owner of a handloom emporium in South Delhi. “The accused would use knives,firearms and stolen motorcycles for pulling off their crimes,” said H G S Dhaliwal,DCP South.
