He has been framed… he is 60,can’t even kill a mosquito: Guard’s family

Bali and Naresh Mishra (60) are the two security guards charged with the murder of 20-year-old Anmol Sarna.

For two days,Anu was under the impression that her husband,46-year-old Surender Bali, was working overtime at the South Park apartments in Kalkaji where he was employed as a security guard. But on Monday morning, she got a call from the police to say her husband had been arrested.

Anmol Sarna. But their families maintain that they have been framed by the police who were under pressure to crack the “high-profile” case.

“My husband has been framed by police. The four youths involved in the case took drugs and fought with their friend. I have heard he has injuries all over his face and body. Yet the police have arrested my husband and his colleague. The police themselves claim that the security guards hit the young man with a baton on the back. How can that kill anyone?” Anu said.

Bali has been working as a guard for the last four years, drawing a monthly salary of Rs 4,000. He has two children — a daughter and son who are still studying. Before he began working as a guard,he used to sell eggs in Madangir where he lives with his family.

According to Anu,when she went to the Kalkaji police station on Monday afternoon,an officer told her that her husband had not killed Anmol and was likely to be let off. Hours later, she heard of his arrest when she switched on the TV.

“When I called my father on Saturday,he was at the police station. They forced him to say he was doing extra duty. That night,he did not return. On Sunday, the same thing happened. I could sense uneasiness in his voice. I thought it was work stress. It was only on Monday that we received a call from one of the policemen who said my father had been arrested,” Bali’s son Suraj said.

In Sangam Vihar,Pavitra, who came to Delhi barely a fortnight ago from Darbhanga in Bihar, still can’t figure out why has father-in-law Naresh Mishra,a 60-year-old,been arrested. Her husband Lallan, who too works as a guard and doubles as a salesman after duty to bring home money, was not allowed to meet his father when he was being produced in the Saket court.

“My father is a 60-year-old who cannot even kill a mosquito. I do not know who to trust. At the moment, everyone is misleading us. The South Park RWA said they would help but have done nothing so far. We are poor and want justice. I request the media to take up our case,” Lallan said. His sister, who teaches children in Sangam Vihar, was to get married later this year.
