Close on the heels of a young real estate executive’s killing in Sector-29 here, two security guards were found murdered at the Sector-29 HUDA shopping-cum-office complex on Thursday night.

The IT city has seen four crime incidents in the last five days, since Sunday, which have left four persons dead and one grievously injured. The police are yet to make a breakthrough in any of the cases.

The police said Arvind and Anand, both in their early-twenties,died of multiple stab injuries as per the postmortem report. The police suspect at least three assailants attacked the duo and struck at them with a sharp object on the neck.

The two were on duty at the time of the attack. An officer said Arvind tried to call his relatives on his mobile phone after the assailants left them for dead. But he failed to speak properly. The relatives, who rushed to the spot, found both in a critical condition.

The two were declared dead on arrival at the civil hospital.

Officers from the Sector-29 police station said it is still unclear how the assailants arrived. They were equally clueless about the murder motive since there does not seem to be any robbery.

Meanwhile, trying to play down the increase in crime in the city,Gurgaon Police Commissioner S S Dheswal said all four incidents were unconnected. “There is no link between these cases,” he said on Friday. “We are working on the possibilities and are investigating the cases.”

Asked about the spurt in crime even after all Gurgaon residents with licensed firearms have been instructed to deposit them at the local police station ahead of the elections, the police chief said,“It does not seem any licensed firearms have been used in these incidents.”

He added that nothing more can be revealed since the investigations are on.

About the steps the city police are taking to tackle the increase in crime,Dheswal said,“We hold regular briefings with the residents’ welfare associations (RWAs) and other security agencies. We also keep a tab on security measures they have taken.” The police said Arvind was employed with Bajaj Allianz and Anand with Reliance Insurance.
