In an effort to speed up the enrolment for Aadhaar in Gurgaon, the Registrar of UIDAI in Haryana,Krishan Mohan, issued another set of guidelines to the Deputy Commissioner PC Meena early this week.
Newsline had reported the enrolment rate for Aadhaar stands at 45 per cent in Gurgaon.
With a view to enable all residents to acquire Aadhaar cards, the state government has decided to appoint introducers to help those residents enroll in the system who do not have any proof of identity or address,Meena said.
The State Registrar of UIDAI felt that there is a need to provide introducers and verifiers to accomplish and speed up the enrolment activities.
Under this initiative,a number of numberdars and sarpanches have been notified as introducers in rural areas, while their urban counterparts will be the municipal councillors.
Serving patwaris and gram sachivs have been notified as verifiers in rural areas. In the urban areas, retired Class-III and above employees, staff of Central and State governments and retired school teachers will be appointed as verifiers,Meena said.
VP Tyagi,Deputy Director of UIDAI Regional Office, said: According to the UIDAI policy, introducers are those officially appointed persons who would help residents without identity proofs to enroll in the system. Similarly, verifiers are those persons who are officially appointed to verify the various documents like proof of identity, proof of residence, proof of date of birth, etc submitted by citizens at time of enrolment,in support of their claim for an Aadhaar card.
Those wishing to be introducers or verifiers will have to apply to the Deputy Commissioner. After scrutiny of applications, the Deputy Commissioner would forward the names to State Registrar of UIDAI,who will take steps to notify each person by name and then send it further to UIDAI to be listed in their portal.
The introducer must have an Aadhaar card and must be present at the enrolment centre at the time of enrolment of the person whom he is identifying,Tyagi said.
