Recession might be blowing over, but Paris-returned designer Hemant Sagar and his French partner Didier Lecoanet still seem inspired by it. Sagar unveiled their autumn-winter collection for next month’s Lakme Fashion Week,at a small fashion preview at Ogaan,Hauz Khas Village . The fash frat and the fash-conscious turned up to check-out the interesting combination of snobbish Parisian haute couture. Titled Protection, the collection buckles up the skin in chrome and metal as well as navy blue and black short dresses in tetron, poplin and cotton. The dresses come with armour sleeves and puffy parachute backs. “Things might be better in India but the world is still in a crisis and that includes my European markets. That is why we have these buckled up dresses with zippers and metal work, that denote protection from the current situation,” said Sagar. The collection also showcased an evening dress in black and grey with a tantalising silhouette. Minute plisse folds and feathers on the skirt and tight bodice with bead work reflected a global avante garde feel. Fashionistas loved the straight cuts and silhouettes, and the interplay of fabrics that seemed out of Paris and Milan.
