Ghaziabad man dies in police custody; beaten up by cops, allege kin

Responding to the family’s allegations, ACP (Kotwali) Saloni Agrawal said Dilshad was called for questioning in connection with a complaint filed against him.

“A complaint application had been received against Dilshad Khan from a woman… The vehicle in which he was being brought for questioning met with an accident with a canter. Its driver and helper have been caught. Necessary action is being taken.”

Police officers said an FIR under IPC section 302 (murder) has been registered against a police officer and unknown persons based on a complaint from the deceased’s family.

In his complaint, his brother Naushad alleged that officials of Vijaynagar police station area had called Dilshad to deliver the laundered uniforms and after that, he was mercilessly beaten. “When I reached the (Abhay Khand) outpost, I heard the sound of beatings and shouting from inside. The policemen abused and threatened me. I ran to my house and took my father with me. On returning, they said he (Dilshad) had been taken to Vijayanagar police station,” alleged the brother.
