During a visit to the various facilities for athletes and foreign delegates coming for the Commonwealth Games,Urban Development Minister S Jaipal Reddy on Saturday dubbed them as world-class.
He also added that they were the best in the history of the sporting event. It (the facilities) is the best ever in the history of the Commonwealth Games. It is world class… can be compared with the best of the Olympic villages in the world, Reddy said while speaking on the Village and flats meant for athletes. The minister,who visited the dining hall,swimming pool and other facilities,said that it was for the first time that the practicing venues were located so close to the Games Village. While facilities such as the dining hall is temporary,other sports facilities will stay on as a permanent legacy for Delhiites… we are quite proud that we have done it, he said.
Downplaying apprehensions of a dengue epidemic,Reddy said that all possible steps were being taken to prevent the outbreak of the disease at Commonwealth Games venues. He said that projects relating to the event were no longer behind schedule. We are now on track. All the venues will be handed over to security agencies by Monday, Reddy added.
