Foreigner found dead in hotel

A 57-year-old Australia national was found dead at a guesthouse in Paharganj in Central Delhi. Police said that his body was discovered on Sunday evening around 5 pm.

A 57-year-old Australia national was found dead at a guesthouse in Paharganj in Central Delhi. Police said that his body was discovered on Sunday evening around 5 pm.

Police said the deceased has been identified as Carnahan Robert Michael. He had checked into the hotel on Saturday.

Despite repeated knocks,he did not respond and the police were called in. Police broke open the door to find Michael lying dead on the bed. There were no external injuries on his body. A postmortem examination will reveal the exact cause of death. A case will be registered after the report comes in, a senior police official said.

Police said Michael had a multiple visa valid upto May 14,2010.

The Australian High Commission has been informed about the death.
