The AAP, however, shot back saying that the “selective use of power and abuse of state machinery exposes BJP’s fear of AAP’s growing popularity and commitment to the public good”.
Brijesh Rai, office secretary of Delhi BJP, filed four complaints — three of which were regarding posts from January 9 and 10, allegedly targeting the PM and Home Minister; and using “defamatory and fabricated content to mislead the public”.

According to the police, the case was filed after Brijesh Rai, office secretary of the Delhi unit of BJP, filed a complaint mentioning various tweets in which the images of PM Modi and Shah were used. Further investigations are underway.

Rai accused the AAP of spreading misinformation to “destroy communal harmony”. In his complaint, he accused Arvind Kejriwal, Bhagwant Mann, and Atishi of making false, inflammatory, provocative, and discriminatory statements against the people of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh (Purvanchalis) to incite tensions between communities.
Sanket Gupta, the convenor of BJP’s Election Cell, meanwhile, filed another complaint, alleging that a post on X was intended to tarnish the PM’s reputation ahead of polls.
Responding to the FIRs, the AAP said, “False cases are being registered to divert attention from real issues concerning the people.”
