Blazing red, gold, green and black, the colours of the flag of Jamaica will be resplendently displayed at the Living Room Café in Hauz Khas on Thursday,an evening dedicated to Reggae music from the Caribbean. Reggae India is hosting Reggae Collaboration with DJs,MCs and other musicians who love the reggae rhythms. Holding court will be DJs Mocity and Mr Herbalist, along with Praxis from BASSFoundation. “Since we started Reggae India in April this year,we’ve wanted to welcome as many people as we can into the fold. This is the first collaborative effort of artistes from the non-electronica lot of Delhi’s DJs,” says Mohammad Abood, better known as DJ Mocity.

In a bid to pep up the live music and DJ scene in the city,Reggae Collaboration is inviting musicians to jam with them on Thursday evening. “Reggae is about both DJing and Live music,” says Zorawar Shukla, whose professional name is Mr. Herbalist. Raghav Dang aka Diggy Dang,a bass musician will be at the helm of all the live jamming that night.

Ruling over the mic will be Taru Dalmia, known as the Delhi Sultanate, who is making another important contribution to the event. “I’ve recently sourced all my old Reggae and Hip-hop vinyl records and so we’ll be spinning a lot of 90s dancehall music, especially the Studio One stuff,” says Dalmia. “Dancehall has a lot of rhythms that are remixed and remade. So I’ll be playing Stalag riddim, the Drum Song and more,” adds Dalmia. And if you’re a musician who wants to play reggae too, just get in touch and get on stage on Thursday night!

Reggae Collaboration begins 8 pm onwards,TLR Café,31 Hauz Khas Village
