Before Bal,Lecoanet Hemant,who’ve in the past paraded oddballs on the ramp (recall a Rajasthani belly dancer in a gown and a jewellery designer dressed as a bell boy at DFW). This time as well,Didier Lecoanet and Hemant Sagar cranked out an equally entertaining show with 52 different autumn looks in a lengthy show. in Barda,Haryana roughing up each other on the stage before clambering back to their seats.When we questioned Sagar on showcasing an autumn look while the rest of the designers unveiled spring summer collections,he retorted,“I don’t live in the illusion of selling clothes for a season six months away. It’s winter and I want to sell now”.

Meanwhile,Prashant Verma,one of the few designers to adopt a cerebral approach towards fashion,tackled the subject of power,dominance and individualism in his collection Eg,a takeoff on prolific writer Ayn Rand’s The Fountainhead. The show began by flashing Rand’s iconic line,“It’s so hard to find someone to admire on the screen”,as the guests sat in hushed silence. Meanwhile,Pia Pauro cheered loudly for a red asymmetric dress with an exploding clock print.
