Strangely for summer months,Friday morning saw shallow to moderate fog form over the IGI Airport, taking visibility down to 400-500 metres between 3 and 8 am.

“The cause of fog is presence of high moisture content of between 85-95 per cent in the local atmosphere, due to overnight rain. This, together with minimum temperatures of below 20 degrees Celsius resulted in the fog conditions,” said Dr R K Jenamani of the IGI Met.

Keeping with the unusual weather experienced in the past two weeks, summer rains are set to continue in the capital during the weekend.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that the city will experience light rainfall on Saturday.

According to the Met,weather conditions similar to that experienced on Thursday — light rainfall and thunderstorm accompanied by squall — are expected on Saturday as well.

Temperatures on Saturday are expected to remain between 36 and 21 degrees Celsius respectively.

Temperatures in the city remained several degrees below normal on Friday. The maximum temperature recorded was four degrees below normal at 34.7 degrees Celsius, while the minimum was 19.8 degrees Celsius, five degrees below normal.
