Elderly woman assaulted, robbed

A 74-year-old woman was allegedly beaten up and robbed by two unidentified persons in east Delhi’s New Ashok Nagar.

A 74-year-old woman was allegedly beaten up and robbed by two unidentified persons in east Delhi’s New Ashok Nagar, after they barged into her home on the pretext of giving her a wedding card. The woman was living alone. Her husband is dead and her daughter lives in Noida.

Police said the incident took place Monday afternoon.

“They claimed they were her daughter’s relatives and had come to invite her to a wedding. The accused then whipped out a knife and robbed her,” a police officer said.
