In a continued attack on BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal Wednesday said that the raids by the CBI and ED have brought all the corrupt people in “one party”. He added that when BJP’s rule ends, the country will become corruption-free.

“The PM has been saying that ED and CBI have brought the corrupt to one stage. There is one thing wrong with the statement. ED and CBI have brought together all the corrupt in one party, in their party,” Kejriwal said in the Delhi Assembly on Wednesday.

He was referring to the PM’s statement on Tuesday at the BJP headquarters where a new building was inaugurated.

Kejriwal tabled a confidence motion on Wednesday after the BJP, which has eight MLAs in the 70-member Assembly, said it would move a no-confidence motion against AAP over corruption, but later withdrew it. In the Delhi Assembly, a no-confidence motion needs the support of 14 MLAs. BJP has eight MLAs.

“We believe in democracy, so we brought a confidence motion and gave BJP MLAs an opportunity to speak… We welcome criticism, but if BJP MLAs only fight and try to break our MLAs away, they will not win even in the 2050 Assembly polls in Delhi, leave alone the 2025 polls. Criticism for the sake of it is not right. Say something proper, talk about the people. You keep criticising Kejriwal,” he said.

Kejriwal claimed his MLAs have been threatened with CBI and ED raids and offered Rs 25 crore bribe but nothing could break them.

“Each one of you is a gem. Don’t be afraid. Even if you go to jail, I will take care of your family,” he said.

The BJP, meanwhile, said that the AAP government may have a majority in the House, but they had lost the people’s trust.

Opposing the confidence motion, Leader of Opposition Ramvir Singh Bidhuri said, “The height of corruption and neglecting the public’s problems has meant that people have no faith in this government… Delhi’s exchequer was looted of thousands of crores of rupees due to the liquor scam, instead of providing clean water to Delhi, the people of Delhi were duped by the Jal Board scam… the Kejriwal government has hurt the public’s trust tremendously.”

Calling AAP’s backlash against BJP the last flutter of a dying lamp, Bidhuri alleged that not a single school or college was opened in eight years and no buses were added to the DTC fleet for eight years.

“Today Delhi has become the most polluted capital of the world and Yamuna has become a dirty drain due to the negligence of the Delhi government. The government promised that 16 smog towers would be built but only two have come up,” he said.
