1 killed, another injured after vehicles catch fire on Dwarka Expressway in Delhi

The Delhi Police are yet to identify the person who was killed in the accident on the Dwarka Expressway.

A man was killed and another injured on the Dwarka Expressway in the early hours of Wednesday when two vehicles collided and caught fire near the Yashobhoomi flyover.

According to the police, they received an alert regarding the accident at about 12.15 am at Sector 23 Dwarka Police Station. On reaching the spot, they found a Hyundai Creta and Maruti Eco Van on fire. Firefighters were called to the accident spot and two fire tenders extinguished the flames by 2.45 am.

Mukul Bhardwaj, Station Officer, Delhi Fire Service, said, “The vehicles collided and caught fire”. The charred body of the Maruti Eco Van driver, who remains unidentified, was taken to Safdarjung Hospital for post-mortem and identification. 

The driver of the Hyundai Creta, who sustained injuries, was rushed to a nearby hospital by PCR and CATS ambulance services before the arrival of the Delhi Fire Service. 

A police officer said a case under sections 281 and 106 A of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) has been registered and further investigations are underway. Authorities are also working to identify the deceased driver, the officer said.
