To help people travelling from remote locations in Haryana, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Thursday flagged off an inter-state electric bus route from the Kashmere Gate ISBT to the Sonipat bus stand – to be operated by the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC).

Only a few months ago, DTC had launched an electric bus service to Badoth near Mathura in Uttar Pradesh.

Flagging off the new bus service, Gupta said, “Delhi government is reviving inter-state bus services between Delhi and NCR cities, which was discontinued years ago. This initiative will provide people with accessible and convenient public transport options, reduce congestion, and help curb pollution.”

“Strengthening interconnectivity between Delhi and neighbouring states is one of our government’s key priorities,” Gupta said.

Officials said that as of now, three buses will ply on the Delhi-Sonipat route. “More buses will be added in the coming days. The buses will make six trips daily, three in each direction,” an official said.

The route will connect several key locations across Delhi and Haryana, including GTB Nagar, Azadpur Terminal, Jahangirpuri Metro Station, Mukarba Chowk, Alipur, Delhi-Singhu Border, Kundli Industrial Area, TDI City, Nangal Mor, Rai, Bahadurgarh, and Fazilpur, before terminating at the Sonipat Bus Stand.

Transport Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh said that inter-state bus services had been discontinued for years, adversely impacting connectivity between Delhi and NCR.

“With this initiative, we are reviving that vital link through clean, zero-emission electric buses. This step will strengthen regional connectivity, reduce pollution, and offer passengers a safer and more comfortable travel option. Going forward, we plan to expand such services to more cities around Delhi,” he added.
