DoE holds Hackathon for Class 9-12 students

The Directorate of Education, in collaboration with IIT Delhi, IIIFC, and Dr B R Ambedkar Schools of Specialised Excellence, is organising the Delhi Hackathon to “create an environment where aspiring youth minds can harness their coding talents and collaborate in a spirit of healthy competition”.

This competition is for students of all Delhi NCR schools between classes nice to twelve. The final hackathon day will be on January 31.

A circular released Tuesday said, “The Themes are very relevant for today’s generation and include waste management, sustainability, Hyperlocal career options and Equity and access”.

All students in Delhi NCR schools (Government, Government aided and Unaided are eligible), participants will be required to form teams consisting of 2-3 members from the same schools and participants must be currently enrolled in schools from grades IX to XII.

There will be two clusters, junior and senior. The Junior cluster includes classes nince and 10 and the senior cluster will include classes 11-12.

There will be three rounds to this hackathon — Screening Round, Hackathon followed by a grand finale.

The screening round consists of competitive programming which includes well defined computational problems within a specified time limit. These problems will be algorithmic or mathematical in nature and require participants to write efficient computer programs to solve them.

These rounds will be held in the computer labs of ASoSE schools.

In round two, participants are expected to come up with solutions related to the problem statement, which will be released one day prior to the grand finale.

And in the grand finale, a short video by the team members explaining their idea pitch and an idea proposal explaining the idea including a brief on how the participants plan to build it must be submitted.

Students will get certificates and exciting prizes upto Rs 1 lakh along with mentorship opportunities from the experts.

The final day of the Hackathon will be on January 31, 2024.
