A slight delay in getting the police verification of his newly hired driver landed a senior government doctor in trouble last week,when the driver fled with his Skoda car. Dharmendra alias Raj Kumar has been arrested and the stolen car recovered by the Crime Branch on Friday from Dwarka,Southwest Delhi.
The incident took place on May 25 when Dr Anoop Raj,Head of ENT at Maulana Azad Medical College,came to the campus in his Skoda Laura car,driven by Dharmendra.
Dr Raj told Newsline that he had hired Dharmendra four days before the incident. He told us his name is Raj Kumar and gave us a forged driving licence that had the same name, Dr Raj said.
Dr Rajs briefcase that was kept in the car,and contained the official seal,bank account passbook,cheque books,PAN cards and official documents,was also reported stolen.
Dharmendra is about 36 years old and was in possession of a country-made firearm when he was arrested. He also had a forged licence, DCP (Crime) Sanjay Jain said.
