Terming the Supreme Court order on the Noida Extension land issue as a “temporary setback”,the Gautam Budh Nagar administration, under which the area falls, said it was in a “hurry to implement” the decision to restore the land to farmers from whom it was acquired by the state.

“We and the Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority will sit together. We will not delay implementation. We want to do it as quickly as possible. We are in a hurry to implement the judgment,” said Noida District Magistrate Hirdesh Kumar.

Over the next few days, the official said,he would be meeting the builders whose projects were affected by the Court’s judgment, even as he is yet to get a copy of the Supreme Court order.

He said as per his office’s assessment, six major projects were impacted due to the judgement.

Kumar said he was unsure if there was a timeframe mentioned by the apex court and that he will have to go through the court order to verify this.

He said the process of returning the land would begin by restoring names of farmers who refused compensation as per the land records. “Those who had received compensation, will have to return it to get their land back,” he said.
