District court lawyers on strike today

District court lawyers in the Capital will observe a day-long strike on Thursday in protest of “rising corruption” in the judiciary. The lawyers will also meet top politicians including UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Union law Minister Veerappa Moily over the issue,spokesman of the co-ordination committee of Bar Associations of Delhi Rajeev Khosla said.

The lawyers would also protest against alleged overlooking of public interest by the High Court in divesting the district courts of original civil jurisdiction in the garb of opening commercial divisions in Delhi High Court.
