Delhi’s Modern School, Barakhamba Road, celebrated its 105th Founder’s Day Saturday with a ceremony that paid tribute to its founder, Lala Raghubir Singh, recalling the institution’s roots in a “dream that transcended his era.” The event brought alumni, trustees, and students together.
Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, a renowned alumnus and celebrated sarod maestro of international fame, shared his memories of school days and expressed his gratitude for his teachers, noting that the institution had nurtured his passion for music.
“Swar,” he said, “has the power to connect people to God and ‘music’ unites the world as it is beyond boundaries and religion.”
Ahead of the formal ceremony, guests, led by principal Dr Vijay Datta, toured exhibitions themed on the River Chambal, a reflection of what the school called the “creative and technical prowess of students”. The event also saw a horse show, Guard of Honour by the National Cadet Corps (NCC), and a display of trophies.
The school choir opened the ceremony before Dr Datta presented the annual report, acknowledging “meritorious students” and reaffirming the school’s commitment to “co-curricular achievements and sports”.
The evening culminated with an in-house musical production titled ‘An Emotional Odyssey’.
Justice Mukul Mudgal delivered a vote of thanks, commending the faculty and students for what he called “a wonderful show”.
