A woman allegedly bit off a part of her husband’s ear in a fit of rage in Outer Delhi’s Sultanpuri area last week, the Delhi Police said. They added that an FIR has been lodged based on the husband’s complaint.

According to the 45-year-old victim, the incident took place on November 20 at the couple’s home. He told the police that the upper portion of his right ear was dismembered after his wife bit his ear and he had to undergo a surgery.

“I went outside my house around 9.20 am to throw the garbage and later asked my wife to clean the house. When I returned home, she started fighting with me over some issues. She then asked me to sell the house and give her the share so she could live separately with the children,” he said.

Police said the complainant alleged that the couple fought and the wife tried to hit him but he pushed her. “I was walking out of the house when she held me and in a fit of rage… bit my right ear. The upper portion of my ear got dismembered. My son took me to Sanjay Gandhi Hospital in Mangolpuri for treatment,” the man added.

He was later shifted to Jaipur Golden Hospital in Rohini where he underwent surgery.

An FIR has been registered against the woman following the complaint under Section 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means) of the Indian Penal Code.

The police said that they received information about the attack from the hospital and a team was sent to investigate the matter. The man was not in a condition to record his statement last week and later gave a written complaint.
