A case has been registered against the house owner under sections 287 (negligent conduct) and 106(1) (death due to negligence) of the BNS at Bhalswa Dairy police station. A five-year-old boy died after he was electrocuted on coming in contact with lights put up for Diwali in Delhi’s Bhalswa area Tuesday, police said. The victim, Sagar, was the youngest of three children.
He lived with his parents and siblings in Radha Vihar, Mukundpur.
According to police, the child’s mother claimed that the landlord of their house had set up decorative lights all around the roof. “Around 7 pm, the mother informed the child’s father, Santosh, that Sagar was electrocuted by the lights. Initially, the child was rushed to Venkatesh Multi-Speciality Hospital in Mukundpur,” a police officer said.
Later, the child was taken to New Life Hospital in Mukherjee Nagar and then to another hospital in Prashant Vihar. “Around 10.30 pm, the child was taken to Fortis Hospital in Shalimar Bagh where doctors declared him dead on arrival,” a police officer said.
