Former Railways Minister and Chairman of the Standing Committee on Railways Dinesh Trivedi is learnt to have written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi alleging that the financial health of Railways under Suresh Prabhu is precarious and the ministry may doctor its figures to paint a rosy picture in the Rail Budget. Trivedi is particularly miffed with the Railways for its sub-par performance in terms of revenue generation and safety upgrade. He is learnt to have claimed that Prabhu’s five-year investment plan of Rs 8.5 lakh crore is inspired by his (Trivedi’s) Rail Budget which had laid out a five-year roadmap.
