A day after a meeting with women’s organisations and teachers, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta met traders and industrialists and discussed several issues related to cleanliness, ease of doing business, and market development.

Earlier this week, the BJP government announced that it would present a ‘Viksit Dilli’-themed Budget, for which it sought suggestions from the general public and different stakeholders. The Budget session will be held from March 24 to 26.

Gupta said on Thursday, “We are happy that despite receiving the invitation at such short period, industrial organisations of Delhi shared their suggestions and aspirations with us to prepare a draft of the Viksit Delhi Budget… our industrial organisations play a key role in increasing the revenue of Delhi. Our government will try to take necessary steps on the issues raised during the dialogue. It is important that we work by understanding the expectations and needs of the industrial organisations of the city.”

The meeting was also attended by Chandni Chowk MP Praveen Khandelwal.

Taking a dig at the Aam Aadmi Party, which was in power in Delhi for 10 years, the CM said the previous government only “propagated pain”. “But the BJP government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, cured that pain. All the promises made in our Sankalp Patra will be fulfilled with full readiness and honesty,” she said.

Gupta also remarked that “the objective of this dialogue is to improve living standards of the citizens of Delhi by discussing their problems, and making the Budget according to the needs of all those sections”.

Further, the CM said that “both the policy and intention of our government is clear. The Delhi government is determined to bring about all-round development of Delhi and Delhiites. Our aim is that this Budget should give many big gifts to the people of Delhi and bring more prosperity in their lives.”
